11 Jan Exact Sciences announces contract with Anthem BlueCross of California
Expanding Cologuard’s In-Network Coverage Supports Continued Growth in 2016
Exact Sciences Corp. (Nasdaq: EXAS) today announced that Cologuard® is now covered as an in-network service for more than 4.5 million enrollees of Anthem BlueCross of California, which is part of the second-largest commercial health insurer in the United States .
“This is a major milestone for members of Anthem in California who will now enjoy in-network coverage of this at home colon cancer screening test,” said Kevin T. Conroy , chairman, CEO and president of Exact Sciences . “Cologuard is exceeding the expectations of both patients and physicians as adoption rapidly grew during its first full year of commercialization.”
With more than 37 million members, Anthem has a strong presence across 14 states, as the largest plan in six states (Va., Ga., Ind., Wis., N.H., and Maine ) and the second-largest plan in four others, including California . The signed agreement with Anthem in California contemplates that Exact Sciences may enter into similar agreements with Anthem affiliates in other regions, and Exact Sciences intends to pursue such agreements during the first half of 2016.
