University of Wisconsin-Madison Olin House
Functional Use Report
After 94 years of nearly continuous use by the Olin family and nine University of Wisconsin Presidents and Chancellors, Olin House, the current residence of the UW-Madison Chancellor, was recently closed and is about to undergo an extensive renovation including infrastructure modernization and major functional improvements.
This report will review the historic, current, and future functional attributes and needs of the residence –both in its official and private capacities –and hopefully provide useful input to the architect selected to spearhead the renovation project. Following a general overview of Olin House, this report will look at the past, present, and future functionality by each of the home’s four floors and by room, as appropriate.
