UW Gets $5 Million Kauffman Foundation Grant

The grant is part of a $200 million effort spearheaded by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, based in Kansas City, Mo., to "transform the way colleges and universities prepare students for success in the American economy."

Stem Cell Products Reveals Stem-cell Breakthrough
UW-Madison stem-cell pioneer James Thomson and his colleagues have discovered a way to use human embryonic stem cells to create components of human blood. Stem Cell Products, a Research Park tenant is getting $1 million in state grants and loans to help manufacture the red blood cells and platelets and bring them to market. |
