Opera in the Park 2010

Opera in the Park features familiar opera hits, the best of Broadway and musical highlights from the upcoming Madison Opera season. John DeMain leads the Madison Symphony Orchestra, the Madison Opera Chorus, and some of opera’s brightest stars in a free community event for all ages. Enjoy a romantic evening under the stars or bring your family and friends.

National nanotechnology and cleantech conference to include Wisconsin exhibit
June 17, 2010
Wisconsin will be represented June 21-24 at TechConnect World, the world’s largest co-located nanotechnology and “cleantech” conference, through an exhibit produced by the Wisconsin Technology Council and Forward Wisconsin. In its 13th year, TechConnect World is hosted by the Nano Science and Technology Institute and is expected to attract more than 5,000 visitors. Wisconsin will be among 350 exhibitors at the conference, to be held at the Anaheim (Calif.) Convention Center.

Neenah firm wins 2010 Biz Plan Contest

LIVEyearbook, a start-up company that is turning a new page on an iconic institution – the school yearbook – is the Grand Prize winner in the 2010 Governor’s Business Plan Contest. The company has won $50,000 in cash and services.
PhylloTech, a Park Tenant won the Life Sciences category.

URP Part of Pilot Program
- Park and Bike to Campus!

If you've driven down University Avenue this summer, you can attest to the extreme stop-and-go traffic summer construction season has bestowed upon us. The park and bike offers free indoor bike parking and complimentary car parking for anyone who wishes to leave their car and finish their commute by bike. We encourage you to give the Park and Bike concept a try; if the pilot (which will run through October 1, 2010) proves successful, we'll develop a permanent program.

Forbes recognizes UW Research Park

Forbes Magazine has named the University Research Park & MGE Innovation Center at the University of Wisconsin—Madison as one of the top 10 technology innovation and development parks that’s changing the world. The list, which includes technology incubators all over the world, singled out the University of Wisconsin Research Park for hosting more than 110 technology companies that employ 3,500 people.

Forbes: Madison is America's
7th most innovative city

Madison ranks seventh among 100 large U.S. cities on a new Forbes.com list of "America's most innovative cities." Forbes compiled its ranking on the basis of patents, venture capital investment, tech and science jobs, and "creative" jobs, all adjusted per capita.

University Research Park tenant Mentor donates $16 million facility to Morgridge Institute
March 3, 2010
Mentor Worldwide is donating its $16 million, just-built manufacturing facility at the University Research Park to the Morgridge Institute, a UW-Madison-affiliated private research organization. The Morgridge Institute will use the facility as an extension of the research done at the Wisconsin Institutes of Discovery, the public-private research center now under construction between University Avenue and Campus Drive.

University Research Park adds Accelerator building
February 24, 2010
A new building at University Research Park is open and ready for takers. Known as the Accelerator building, it is intended for use by companies whose success is helping them outgrow smaller spaces, said Greg Hyer, the research park’s associate director. “It is part of the general series of options we have in the research park for science and technology companies,” he said.

Glenn Stephens Elementary School Supplies Drive
July 20, 2010
The University Research Park and Glenn Stephens Elementary School Partnership will be collecting school supplies for over 450 students at Glenn Stephens Elementary School.  A list of needed items will be distributed in July.  The first collection will be at the Hi-Tech Hotdogger and Vendor Fair on July 20, 2010.

Without fighting or fanfare, University Research Park 2 is nearly here

While much focus in town has been on filling vacant land at Hilldale Mall or the squabble over the downtown Edgewater Hotel, a big development is coming to the far west side that has sort of floated under the radar -- the addition of a second University Research Park, or, as its backers call it, "URP2."

American Red Cross Blood Drive
