It was 25 years ago this fall that the UW Board of Regents approved pursuing the creation of University Research Park. That anniversary was marked during the Nov. 5-6 Wisconsin Early Stage Symposium and celebrated in a Nov. 17 editorial in the Wisconsin State Journal.

BioSentinel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. was founded to create novel detection systems, to develop high specificity and sensitivity portable, biosensor devices and to discover antagonists for bioterrorism by use of botulinum neurotoxins (BoNTs).

 
 


BioSentinel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. was founded to create novel detection systems, to develop high specificity and sensitivity portable, biosensor devices and to discover antagonists for bioterrorism by use of botulinum neurotoxins (BoNTs).
 
In addition to advancing the science, FRET based sensors will be used to monitor BoNT activity in vitro and in living cells in real time. These sensors will be used to design HTS screening assays and to identify molecules that antagonize the action of BoNT. The proprietary detection system will be engineered at the UW and validated by BioSentinel Pharmaceuticals. It will be very easy to operate, incorporating state-of-the-art engineering with high specificity and reproducibility to meet biodefense requirements of the Army in research facilities, "sentinel labs," and in the field.
