New entrepreneurship hub launched on campus

The @1403 building, named after its address on 1403 University Ave., will be a place for campus entrepreneurs to access university and community resources for businesses. It’s just across the street from the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery.

UW-Madison’s Discovery to Product program is already working in the downstairs part of the building, while the university’s Law and Entrepreneurship Clinic is working upstairs. Also upstairs is another location for Madworks Accelerator and some space for gener8tor’s gBETA program, which targets startups with ties to Wisconsin colleges.

“We hope that when people think back about their college experience, whether they’re students or professors … they’ll remember the place where they launched their first startup, and we hope that much of those first startups will happen here @1403,” University Research Park Managing Director Aaron Olver said last night at the hub’s official unveiling.
