14 Jul Exact Sciences’ Cologuard could be included in national quality guidelines

The use of Cologuard, the home-based stool test by Madison-based Exact Sciences, could be included in how doctors and clinics are evaluated for colorectal cancer screening nationally, which might prompt more use of the test, the company said Wednesday.
The National Committee for Quality Assurance has proposed including Cologuard next year in quality measures known as the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set, or HEDIS. The measures are used to audit the performance of doctors, health systems and insurers. A decision on the proposal will be made after a 30-day comment period. Read more …
