Madison called a top area for tech professionals

Skyline_of_Madison_WisconsinP_webMadison has been ranked the seventh best metro area in the country for technology professionals by WalletHub.com, a personal finance website.

The top area for STEM, or science, technology, engineering and math professionals was Silicon Valley, followed by Austin, Texas. Milwaukee area ranked 49th out of 100 metro areas evaluated.

WalletHub’s findings are important because they suggest which areas have the most growth potential.

STEM, or science, technology, engineering and math professions will expand 1.7 times faster than non-STEM occuppations for the decade ending in 2020, according to estimates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The annual average wage for all STEM-related jobs is $85,570, which is 81% more than the national average of $47,230 for all jobs, according to the bureau’s most recent figures. Read more …
