Wisconsin added nearly 4,000 tech jobs in 2016, report says

Zendesk_wsjWisconsin tech companies added an estimated 3,909 jobs in 2016 — a 4 percent increase — according to Cyberstates 2017, an annual analysis of the nation’s technology industry by CompTIA, a leading, worldwide technology association.

That pegs Wisconsin with 101,542 tech employees and ranks the state 20th for tech industry employment.

CompTIA says Wisconsin has about 6,755 tech businesses, and the industry employs about 3.6 percent of the state’s workforce.

The average annual pay for a tech industry employee in Wisconsin was $79,500 in 2016, substantially higher than the average state wage of $45,600, the report says. Read more …
