An estimated 38 percent of Americans are eligible to give blood or platelets, but of those, less than 10 percent actually donate each year. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Liver Awareness Month. The Red Cross is urging the community to give blood in support of patients with cancer and those undergoing transplants. All blood types are welcome!
If you are healthy and eligible, please come out to donate. Most donations take about an hour, so book your appointment, roll up your sleeve and become a part of the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross.
Save time by using the RapidPass, where you can complete your pre-donation reading and health history ahead of time at www.RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass or use the Blood Donor App before your appointment.
The actual donation itself takes around 10 minutes. Using RapidPass or the Blood Donor App can potentially save another 15 minutes of your donation process. By scheduling a donation appointment time in advance, again, you can make the donation process go more smoothly.
Encourage a co-worker or friend to join you and make a difference!
