Judy Faulkner, founder and CEO of Epic Systems, is among the 100 most powerful woman in the world, according to Forbes.
This list, which Forbes publishes annually, evaluated the net worth, impact and influence of women around the world to determine the most powerful. The other entrants ranged from Giorgia Meloni, the prime minister of Italy, to pop stars Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.
Faulkner, the only Wisconsinite in this year’s ranking, clinched 54th on the list.
Here’s what to know about Faulkner, as well as which other notable Wisconsin women didn’t make the list.
Faulkner founded healthcare software company Epic Systems in a Madison basement in 1979, according to Forbes.
Headquartered in Verona, Epic now stores the medical records of more than 250 million patients, according to its website. The company is valued at $4.7 billion, and Faulkner owns 47% of it.
