WisPolitics: PSC is accepting applications for the 2022 Telemedicine Grant Program

Doctor viewing cell phoneThe Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC or Commission) is now accepting grant applications for the 2022 Medical Telecommunications Equipment Program, also known as the Telemedicine Grant Program. The program provides funding to purchase medical telecommunications equipment that enhances access to medical care in rural or underserved areas, for people with disabilities, or promotes technologically advanced medical services. The Commission is expected to award up to $1 million in spring 2022. Applications are due on February 10, 2022.

“We’ve witnessed during the pandemic how vitally important it is for people to have access to their nurses and doctors and receive treatment remotely,” said PSC Chairperson Rebecca Cameron Valcq. “These grants break down barriers to health care access and give more flexibility to providers and patients.”

Funding for the Telemedicine Grant program is made available by the Universal Service Fund, which provides up to $500,000 per fiscal year for grants. During the last grant round in 2020, the PSC received 19 applications requesting more than $1.2 million in funding. The Commission awarded $1 million, which funded 16 grants.
