ABOUT TRANSCEND

Transcend UW is a student organization focused on providing invaluable resources and opportunities to students on campus who are interested in creating their own ventures. We do not limit our member’s ideas to tech, mobile applications or purely entrepreneurial ventures; instead we encourage collaboration between majors and focuses which we hope inspires start up ideas that can change the world. Our utility comes from the vast network of alumni and professionals from the Madison area and beyond which we tap regularly for inspiring talks and informative workshops that our members can utilize to expand their knowledge beyond their curriculum and hopefully apply it towards innovation. We host the annual Transcend Madison Innovation Competition with the help of many sponsors.

Last year, we gave $55,000 worth of prizes to around 35 competing teams with over 5,000 spectators. Now we will be hosting the Country’s largest student run innovation competition where we are looking to give at least $55,000 worth of prizes. This year we are hoping to make the competition a more immersive experience as well as streamlining the processes. Prizes are only a part of the opportunities we provide at the annual competition. Members walk away with invaluable experience and connections that last for a lifetime. Currently, past competitors are seeking seed round funding and have been able to open offices, while others are applying for patents for their technology. Others have gone on to enter competitively into different industries.

Team & Project Eligibility:

All team members must be degree-seeking University of Wisconsin-Madison students enrolled in the Spring 2024 term. Alumni who graduated from UW-Madison in December 2023 are still eligible to compete.

You must meet the following criteria ​to be eligible for competition.

• Teams can be as small as 1 person with a maximum of 5 people.
• Individuals are only eligible to participate in 1 team at competition.
• Projects are ineligible if they fit any of the following categories:
  • Are a part of a course you are currently enrolled in
  • Are part of a paid or graded research experience
  • Are part of a thesis project
  • Are the primary intellectual property of other individuals or groups that are not eligible to participate in the competition (ex. work done for an internship, family business etc.)​

Application Deadline: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16th, 2024 at 11:59pm CST

Final Deadline for all competition materials: Thursday, April 4th, 2024 at 11:59 PM CST

Competition Dates: Wednesday, April 10th and Friday, April 12th, 2024
