Got a creative idea that needs funding? Enter the Arts Business Competition!
The University of Wisconsin–Madison Arts Business Competition encourages new thinking and innovative ideas. The campus-wide competition provides support for student-driven projects. Entrants develop and submit a detailed proposal for an arts event, exhibition, performance series, commercial venture, or other artistic project.
The Call for Proposals for the 2024 Arts Business Competition opens on Thursday, October 26, 2023 and closes Thursday, December 21, 2023. Proposals should demonstrate creativity, innovation, added value to the arts, and potential for success. Past winning projects include a public art collaboration, a clothing line, and a 3-D printed saxophone mouthpiece.
Entries may be from individuals or from teams of up to three. Only the team lead must be a full-time UW–Madison student; other members can be part-time students, students from other colleges or community members.
All proposals are evaluated in a preliminary online round by a panel of judges. Three finalists are selected and present their proposals in-person on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in the Plenary Room of Grainger Hall.
Awards may impact financial aid distribution. The Division of the Arts is the presenter of the Arts Business Competition with support from the Bolz Center for Arts Administration.
