West Campus WCID-overview
UW–Madison’s west campus is home to a thriving research ecosystem, hospitals, recreation amenities, and academic activities. It holds immense potential for enhanced value and vibrancy, thanks to the world-class hospital system, diverse community, and beautiful natural areas.
Our vision for West Campus aims to enrich the campus experience for all who visit, work, study, and play in that area, by creating opportunities for new career pathways, expanding livelihoods, and providing space for important discovery.
In summer 2022, UW-Madison, in partnership with University Research Park, began a planning process to reimagine and redesign the west campus. Development and implementation of this “West Campus District Plan” will take place over the next 30 years to improve research, teaching, learning, healthcare, industry and community connections.
This is the first project using the real estate revenue strategy as an effort to create additional opportunities to support the university’s mission. Ideas and input from community members will be vital to reimagining this place and we look forward to collaborating with you along the way!
UW-Madison will host two on-campus events in June to gather additional feedback about the design concepts and future improvements on the west side of campus. Attendees will have an opportunity to view and share thoughts about the updated design concepts based on public feedback heard in February and with online tools. The district planning team will be there to share additional information in an open house-style setting.
